Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you’ll be welcomed by your driver/guide and transferred to your hotel in Nairobi. Check in, freshen up, and relax before dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Exploring Nairobi
After breakfast, we’ll set off for a full-day tour of Nairobi’s top highlights, including Nairobi National Park, the Giraffe Center, and the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. This is an 8-hour adventure (with time for lunch) that blends wildlife and urban landscapes in a way you won’t experience anywhere else.
Nairobi is the only capital city in the world with a national park within its borders – you’ll spot lions, rhinos, giraffes, and zebras roaming freely, all with the city’s skyline as a surreal backdrop.
We’ll return to the hotel in the late afternoon so you can relax and freshen up before dinner.
Day 3: Maasai Mara National Park
After breakfast, we’ll embark on a journey to Maasai Mara National Reserve – one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations. It’s about a 6-hour drive from Nairobi, but don’t worry, we’ll break it up with a 20-minute stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint. This is the perfect spot to stretch your legs, grab a drink, and take some photos of the stunning landscape.
Maasai Mara is not only famous for its abundant wildlife and sweeping savannahs, but it’s also home to the Maasai tribe – one of the most famous tribes in Africa. We’ll stop at a local Maasai village where you’ll experience an authentic cultural visit. You’ll learn how the Maasai make fire using traditional techniques, step inside their family homes, and even witness their famous Adumu (jumping dance), performed by the young warriors.
Day 4: Maasai Mara National Park
Today is all about wildlife! We’ll spend a full day, around 9 hours, exploring the incredible Maasai Mara National Reserve on game drives. The Mara is famous for its abundant wildlife and is one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five – lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinos, along with countless other animals like giraffes, zebras, and cheetahs.
A major highlight of the day will be visiting the Mara River, where you will witness the Great Wildebeest Migration – an unforgettable scene as herds of wildebeest and zebras cross the crocodile-infested waters in one of nature’s most dramatic spectacles.
We’ll travel to the southern edge of the Mara, near the Tanzania border, offering a chance to see how this incredible ecosystem connects with the Serengeti.
Lunch will be a relaxed picnic in the bush, surrounded by the sounds and sights of the wild. Be ready for a day filled with jaw-dropping animal encounters, stunning views, sunsets, and safari magic you’ll never forget.
If you’re looking to make the day even more unforgettable, we can arrange an optional Hot Air Balloon experience.
Day 5 – Lake Nakuru National Park
After an early breakfast, we’ll head out for our next adventure – Lake Nakuru National Park, about a 4-hour drive from the Mara.
Once we arrive, we’ll check in at our resort, where you can take the afternoon to swim, relax, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings before our next safari experience.
Lake Nakuru is famous for its vibrant birdlife, especially the beautiful pink flamingos that gather along its shores. You’ll also spot a variety of wildlife here, including buffalo, impala, zebras, and the striking Rothschild’s giraffe. If we’re lucky, we might even catch sight of the endangered black and white rhinos that call this park home.
The park is part of the UNESCO-listed Kenya Lake System in the dramatic Great Rift Valley, making it not just a wildlife haven but also a place of breathtaking natural beauty.
Day 6 – Nakuru → Lake Naivasha
We’ll start the day with a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park (around 6 hours), giving us a chance to spot wildlife and enjoy the stunning Rift Valley scenery.
After our safari, we’ll travel about 1.5 hours to Lake Naivasha, a beautiful freshwater lake surrounded by wildlife and acacia trees.
Once we check in at the hotel and enjoy lunch, we’ll head out for a relaxing one-hour boat ride on Lake Naivasha. Keep your eyes open for hippos lounging in the water and an impressive variety of birds – from fish eagles to kingfishers and more.
It’s the perfect, peaceful way to wrap up the afternoon before dinner and a good night’s rest.
Day 7 – Hell’s Gate & Crescent Island → Amboseli
After breakfast, we’ll head to Hell’s Gate National Park for a two-hour bike ride through its dramatic canyons and rocky cliffs – it’s one of the few parks in Kenya where you can cycle right past zebras, gazelles, and giraffes!
After that, we’ll enjoy a walking safari on Crescent Island (about 4 hours), where you can get up close to animals like giraffes, antelopes, and waterbuck in a peaceful, predator-free setting.
We’ll have lunch and then begin our journey to Amboseli National Park. We’ll check in at our hotel in the evening and rest up for the incredible safari ahead!
Day 8 – Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, we’ll head out for a full-day game drive in Amboseli National Park (about 9 hours), one of Kenya’s most iconic safari destinations.
Amboseli is famous for its huge herds of elephants and for offering some of the best views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain. The park’s open plains make wildlife viewing spectacular – you might also spot lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, and more.
Day 9 – Amboseli → Nairobi
After breakfast, we’ll say goodbye to Amboseli and begin our 4-hour drive back to Nairobi. Once we arrive, we’ll have lunch and then head to a local Maasai Market to pick up handmade souvenirs, colorful beadwork, and gifts directly from local artisans.
In the evening, we’ll wrap up the trip with a fun Latin and Afro dance party in the Westlands neighborhood, plus, you’ll get to try some local street food like chapati from one of Nairobi’s favorite spots.
Day 10: Departure or Optional Trip Extension
After breakfast, enjoy a final morning in Nairobi before transferring to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight.
Want to keep the adventure going?
We can organize an optional trip extension to Kenya’s coast – starting in Mombasa, a vibrant coastal city rich in Swahili culture and history, and continuing to Diani Beach/Watamu, popular beach destinations.
